Love On Petra

from Ad Nauseam by Paolo Sala

/

lyrics

When she was a child
To play was scary time
No matter what it was
No need for a good cause to be that way
In the summer sun
In early afternoon
Nobody was around except
This girl in a playground

No way to choose a place to stay
She seemed abandoned there
A lovely pup with dirty hands
blue eyes and light blonde hair
She didn’t speak our language ‘cause
She was from far away
That seemed a decent reason for
Our laughter to take place

What do you do here, go back home!
We seem to hear you parents call!
I don’t know if you have a bike
But you should get one for a ride
What do you do here, on the ground?
Are you aware of certain bounds?
In your blue eyes a question mark
No answer in our dull remarks

But she didn’t go away
As we had initially thought
As if a karmic bungee cord
Was pulling back and forth
She cried and laughed at the same time
What a scary scene!
I can’t say if that happened really
Or it’s a guilty dream

Love on Petra
Love on Petra oh!

And when I think of Petra and
I wonder where she’s now
I ask myself if she remembers
Of that playground
In a foreign country
where nobody showed her love
I guess it is no use but
I do want to show it now

Love on Petra
Love on Petra oh!
