Tranquility Base EP

If we got drunk tonight We could sit at a table wasting time And wave Our hands as if we’re grabbing alien signs From space And put them here together on a line And make A fancy show for people never seen before If we got drunk at least We’d set apart the humans from the beasts And then We could agree upon the things to pick And build A little toy world mixing up our bins And stay And settle in, oblivious, giggling all the time We’d make dirty jokes Have provoking thoughts We’d be ridiculous Theatre of the Absurd If we got drunk ‘till late We couldn’t drive a car and go back home And so We ought to take a walk around the town At night And talk about the notes that make that sound So great Inside our head, delirious, blame it on the wine Overconfident In our discontent So we could scream aloud Swearing at the clouds And we’d end up speaking of the parallax of stars Trying to figure out how far they are Then we’d get home The dawn on the sea Then we’d get home The birds in the trees If we got drunk Tomorrow we’d be hung-over

One night In an empty car park Sharing the last ciggy Feeling rather sleepy We were Talking about nothing Piling up the quibbles Running out of topics Culprit Can be my opinion Can be your sarcasm The size of the Grand Canyon Have you seen my friend? Did I mistreat him? Left him on a shelf Thinking for himself I thought that you were my friend Time spent Messages no more sent We never said we’re brothers We don’t need each other Have you seen my friend? This might be the bends? I don’t have a clue Is this sentence true? I thought that you were my friend

Since the day we moved Things have become so very strange There are too many rooms Sometimes I think I’m in a maze And so I call your name You say “I’m here” but you don’t sound the same Whispers from behind a half-closed door and Strangers walking in the corridors Like ghosts Do you remember when We went back to your childhood home We walked in hand in hand And all the past was dead and gone The trees replaced the stone The windows frozen in a silent call Tender was the springtime in your eyes and Soothing was your presence by my side Like shine And at the border of the night You come from the garden looking my way You say: “oh dear, you look so tired You shouldn’t be troubled it’s a new day You built your house and this is it It’s bottom up science we can’t explain You built your love and this is me It’s bottom up science we can’t explain” “Let’s have a walk down in the fields The air is so clean, the morning’s our shield No time for worries and regrets We’re not in control let’s keep what we get “You built your house and this is it It’s bottom up science we can’t explain You built your love and this is me It’s bottom up science we can’t explain”

I can stay another day In outer space I can tell you that it’s fine You can ask me to behave In outer space Copy that, I will comply You can show me what to do In outer space Time to wake up time to eat You can tell me that it’s you Familiar face Time to move and warm my feet You cannot guess what I think In outer space You cannot describe my dreams You cannot revive the past Inside this place Time is fleeting as it seems I will find my seat beside This window pane Let’s agree to disagree Let me comfortably lie And fall asleep Like a pebble by the sea The Ego’s landed It had wings, I brought it down And I flew it manually Tranquility Base here The Ego’s down
